Home Career Center

The AVS Professional Leadership Committee continues to host the onsite AVS Career Center, open to all attendees, at the International Symposium for the purpose of connecting job seekers with potential employers. The goal is to facilitate contact and networking during the Conference.

In addition, in an attempt to create more opportunities for employers to find qualified applicants for job openings and for qualified applicants to have more opportunities to learn about potential employers there will be a Job Fair, Tuesday-Thursday, during the AVS 71st International Symposium and Exhibition September 21-26, 2025 in Charlotte, NC.

AVS Career Center Registration – Hours/Location:

Tue. September 23 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Exhibit Hall – Career Zone
Wed. September 24 10:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Exhibit Hall – Career Zone
Thu. September 25 10:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Exhibit Hall – Career Zone
Fri. September 26   7:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. Job Boards/Reg. Area

Employers

  • Job Fair Registration (for Tabletop space) – Advance Registration Required – Space is limited
  • Career Center Registration (job postings/resume review/interview) – submit job postings to heather@avs.org in advance, preferred (Onsite is available)
  • Include “Job Posting Type” (Industry, Academia, Government/Laboratory, or Non-profit)
  • Complete a time card at the beginning of the week at the Career Center Booth
  • Check for messages from interested applicants (regularly each day)
  • Review Résumés ELECTRONICALLY!!
  • Reply to messages (i.e., interview, regrets, etc.)
  • Schedule/conduct interviews (onsite and informal)

As a participating company, you can post your job(s) on the bulletin board, display any pertinent company information, interact throughout the day with individuals interested in your company, and still host interviews in a semi-private interview room. Greater exposure is guaranteed! 

Résumés will be available electronically for employers to review, and interview appointments will be scheduled via email.  Regular services will include collecting job postings/résumés, completing timecards, scheduling/coordinating interviews, and providing a message board. Interviews may be scheduled Tuesday through Friday (Friday interviews will meet at the AVS Registration Counter).

Job Fair (Career-Recruiter Tabletop) Registration ($850) – Register via EXHIBIT “BOOTH” REGISTRATION: Includes: 1 skirted table (8’ x 2’) with 2 chairs, 1 Exhibit Hall Badge (w/ Lunch Tickets), shared electricity, company profile in online program, 1 or more job postings on the Career Center bulletin board, and one electronic copy of the résumés on file; ability to review résumés electronically and host interviews in a semi-private room during the job fair. The Career Center will be a carpeted area within the exhibit hall. (SPACE IS LIMITED)  Additional Staff: $100 (Limit 2)

Career Center Registration (FREE before 8/29; $50 After 8/29): Includes 1 or more job postings on the Career Center bulletin board and the ability to review résumé binders and host interviews in a semi-private room during the job fair.

Résumé Files Only ($150): After the Symposium, you will receive an electronic copy of all job seeker résumés/CVs. 

CAREER CENTER REGISTRATION

Job Seekers

  • Include on your résumé: Program #, day, time, and location if you are giving a talk/poster
  • E-mail your résumé to heather@avs.org in advance preferred (Onsite submission is available)
  • Complete a time card at the beginning of the week at the Career Center Registration area
  • Review job boards daily
  • Leave messages for employers/check e-mail for interview appointments (frequently each day)
  • Be available for onsite/informal interviews
  • Bring EXTRA, clean copies of your résumé to hand out as needed

Your résumé will be included in an electronic file available for review by potential employers. When you leave a message slip of interest for an employer, you will receive an e-mail message if they wish to schedule an interview.

It is important to check your e-mail often each day so you do not miss any interview opportunities.
